The Butterfly Effect Tarot Deck Review
At first glance, this deck looks wonderful! Who wouldn’t smile at seeing happy women of all shapes and sized brightly colored? This deck celebrates diversity and body positivity, and in each card a woman stands or sits centered on the card, standing in front of a light that radiates outward, and the rays extend to the edges of the card.
Each Major Arcana card is represented by a woman with butterfly wings. There are clues in the woman’s clothing or items that she carries with her to indicate which tarot card it is.

More on the Major Arcana Cards
The pip cards
The Pip cards (Major Arcana cards Ace – 10) are not illustrated. Instead, they show illustrated suit numbers, but little butterflies are present on the cards tying everything together. I love how the theme is present but doesn’t feel repetitive. Flipping from one card from another, the nuances are delightful.
Deck conclusions and my thoughts on this deck
This deck is wonderful. Repeatedly seeing the outward rays of light behind happy, smiling, confident women just makes my heart feel full. I love the message of body positivity that this deck champions, and the artist’s devotion to and love of the feminine spirit.
Deck Recommendations
I would not recommend this deck to beginner tarot readers. This deck shares elements from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot symbol-system for the Major Arcana, but most times the symbols aren’t obvious unless you know what to look for.
Since this deck features women on all the cards, working with masculine energies and concepts is difficult if you don’t already have these connects and a basic understanding of the deck structure.
Additionally, the overall positive vibe and energy of the deck means that it’s not balanced (in my opinion) in positive and negative messages, concepts and ideas.
